Boston Public Library, Honan-Allston Branch

  • 300 North Harvard Street Allston, MA, 02134 United States (map)

Designed by Machado Silvetti, the 20,000 square foot building features slate shingles, rough stone sculpings and natural-finished wood windows. The spacious, sunny branch has an open layout, a large function room for community events, an art gallery that showcases exhibits by local artists, and outdoor reading courtyards for children and adults, full of trees and seating. In 2006, sculptor Rich Duca contributed tree guards and bicycle racks to the property, adding both beauty and function to the exterior.
