Boston Nature Center and Wildlife Sanctuary

Mass Audubon’s Boston Nature Center is a community-based, all-inclusive education center spanning a 67-acre wildlife sanctuary located in Mattapan. The BNC serves as a living classroom for more than 4,600 children during its summer and vacation week programs, and is a high-impact teaching resource and science laboratory for Boston Public School students and educators. It is a vital community resource and nature play space for families in surrounding neighborhoods. The building was the first green municipal building in Boston, and features a wide array of alternative energy usages from solar to geothermal.  One quarter of the building’s energy use is produced onsite.  Guided tours of the green design elements of the building throughout the day.
